Signs of Caregiver Stress

Caregivers give so much of themselves to those they are caring for, they sometimes forget to focus on themselves. If you’re a Caregiver who is feeling unappreciated or stressed, you must step back and take note if you exhibit any of the following:

  • Feelings of fatigue
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Irritability
  • New or worsening health problems
  • Drinking, smoking, or eating more
  • Lack of attention to detail

If you are showing any signs of the above, recognizing them is the first step. It’s so important to yourself as well as the person you are caring for that you address these problems and seek assistance. Don’t let yourself get overwhelmed!

Additional Steps to Take

If you’re experiencing any signs of Caregiver stress, continue to observe your situation to see where and how you can take control. There will certainly be some things you can’t change, and those are the things you should accept and not spend time, energy, or emotion trying to change. Be sure to take advantage of the resources provided above. Whether you’re a family caretaker or a professional, no one is immune from getting run-down. We are always here to support you throughout your journey.
